DC fun!

We all took a little field trip to Washington DC, and it was so much fun! Greg had a TDY there and we decided it might be fun to make it a family event :)

Can I just say that I love to travel and see new places?! I suppose that's a good thing, since we get to move around a bit with the AF!

We drove there, which might have been the most difficult part of the trip. This made our fourth big road trip in 7 months; this trip totaled 2200 miles...but, who's counting?!!!

Anywaysssss....We stayed with our friends Steve and Kelly for some of the trip (had a blast, just like our old times in Korea with them). We also stayed on base at Quantico-a marine core base in Virginia, and then we wrapped up our trip with a couple of nights in downtown DC, near the Pentagon; Greg had meetings at Quantico and at the Pentagon.

We got to see and do much; I had never been to the area, so I was lovin' every minute of it! The energy of DC sits well with me...for a few minutes I thought I might want to live there...but then the traffic kinda got on my nerves!

Speaking of living there, we are anxiously awaiting on "the list" to come out. Another words, we are waiting to find out where the possibilities are for us to move...hurry up already with that!

Back to DC...One of the things that I have no pictures of, but was a high-light of the trip was a mini-Osan reunion. There are a bunch of gals that live in the DC area that I was stationed with at Osan AB in Korea. We all met up for dinner and had such a wonderful time! We visited for 6 hours...time just flew by. I love all of the friends that I have made through the years thanks to the AF!

A little bit of bed-time reading with Daddy! I so love this candid shot, all three of them are ready for bed and giving Greg every ounce of their attention.

My kiddos thought the pay phones were the coolest thing ever. It occurred to me that the reason they were so fascinated with them is because they have hardly ever seen them!

We ended our visit in DC with a treat from Georgetown Cupcakes :) A sweet treat and a sweet "field trip"!

All in a week...

I've been *meaning* to post pictures of Jordan playing and Greg coaching basketball...always seem to forget the camera or not get any good shots, but I finally did! Our church is hosting Upwards basketball, Greg coaches Jordan's team; Jordan played football and Jannah has also cheered through this wonderful program. I really do love it! Kids learn through a loving technique, it's not meant to be harsh and competitive, they learn scriptures, have a devotion at practice and start the games off with prayer. It just re-enforces what we are trying to teach at home, and I'll take some re-enforcement, anytime!

I've mentioned the Cup before...a couple of my friends thought they needed to try it! So, we got a sitter and just the mamas headed over for lunch and cupcakes to bring home! Thanks friends, I enjoyed it!

I got a Mayan Mocha for myself and an Italian Creme for my sweetheart! They were so good. I don't know why, but an over sized cupcake that's decorated all pretty just hits home with me; I suppose you're never too old to like a cupcake!

!!!!!!!!!BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!!

Jannah got a haircut AND I'm happy to say that she "loves it!"

!!!!!!!!!!MORE BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!!

I got one, too! And I am happy to say that I also love my new cut! I've had long hair for so long and it just feels fresh to have something different. Greg says it's one of his favorite cuts...I'm still trying to decide if he's just trying to earn points :)
Our biggest excitement might have been last Monday when Jamison fell and busted his head. I thought I knew what happened, but as I was telling the story for the 10th time the other day, Jannah informed me that I had told it wrong and that it didn't happen the way I had been telling it...NICE! I may never know exactly what happened, only Jannah and Jamison will. What I do know is that it involved a laundry basket, hardwood floor, and the edge of a chair. Oh yeah, and Jamison's forehead. I was upstairs when I heard the scream, first Jamison's, then Jannah's frantic ones. I ran down only to see blood everywhere and two upset children. Jannah helped my get Jamison dressed (he was wearing shorts, like he always does when he's at home) and then we drove to my friend Amy's, a few houses down; I wanted another adult to agree that I should head to the ER. She said, yes. So, off we went. Greg and Jordan were at basketball practice. After waiting at the urgent care, they thought we should got to the children's hospital in St. Louis, so that Jamison could be comfortable while getting stitches...okay I said. Greg and Jordan joined us after practice; everyone was so concerned about our littlest J. We decided that Greg should take the older J's home(they did not want to leave) and I took Jamison to the hospital. We get there and wait...only to find out he needs some glue and he will be good to go! So, after all of the waiting and two different places, he has a glued up forehead! I'm just glad it's not any worse!

Father & Daughter

IT was a big- to- do,
Pretty black shoes.
Hair to curl,
On my sweet girl.
Nails to paint,
She was prepping for the date.
He was wearing a tie,
She was flying high.
Her lips were pink,
He gave her a hug and a wink.
Off they go, they can't be late,
Greg and Jannah,
They have a daddy-daughter date!

Let's Fondue!!

Saturday was Greg's birthday...it was time to celebrate!! I surprised him with an *adults only* night out, to the Melting Pot! We had so much fun and he was definitely surprised...love to make him happy and catch him off guard :)

Our friends that joined us: Jon, Kara, Shara, Tricia, Dwayne, Greg, Steve and Christa...good times ya'll, we will have to go back!

We enjoyed a cheese course, salad course, meat and veggie course, and everyone's favorite, the chocolate!

This was the dessert plate...all was to be smothered and covered with chocolate...soooo good! We all joked that we would come back and eat at the Jimmy Johns sub shop next door, then go over for a round of chocolate, since that is the highlight!

Lt. Col Promotion Ceremony!!!!

Well, I'm not sure if either one of us can believe it, but it's true...Greg's officially a Lt. Col!!!! I believe in him and I believe he has what it takes and I'm oh, so proud of him! I think I just can't believe he's this far in his military career and that he's old enough to be a LT . COl! There...I said it! Are we really old enough for this? When we married almost 11 years ago, I remember thinking the Lt. Col's were old and mature and their wives were too! So, what does that make us? Don't answer that question! On a serious note. I am very proud of Greg. Through the years, he has faithfully served his country and given of his time and efforts in so many ways. He is humble and wouldn't say this, but I can brag...he's good at what he does!
This journey has been a lot of things. It's been happy, sad, tiring, exhilarating, fun, not so fun. We have been stationed in Washington, Florida, Arkansas, Korea, and now Illinois. We've always tried to have the motto of "home is where-ever the military sends us." It's been fun of explorations for this south Georgia girl that never planned on leaving her hometown. We've made some incredible and lasting friendships over the years as we've moved around. We have seen the hand of God in our lives and know that even when we don't understand his plan, we can trust in Him.

I am honored to be the wife of Lt. Col Bailey and to stand by his side as he serves God and our country, the good ole' USA!!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Jannah and Greg enjoyed a fancy and fun-filled night! They went to the Daddy-Daughter Dance in O'Fallon last Friday. She was so excited about it! She and I went shopping for a new dress, she picked this one out all by herself; she has an eye for exactly what she wants! Daddy was all dressed up and after my own little photo shoot, they were off (in the snow and freezin' cold weather). I'm told by both that they had a blast! They ate dinner, had pictures taken, hung out with friends, and danced until the late hour of 9:00. Jannah was excited that she had 2 full glasses of fruit punch (I love what kids get excited about)! We all need to step back and enjoy the "small indulgences!"
