Heaven

Bedtime around our house seems to be the most hectic; and not to worry, supper time is almost as hectic! Our desire is to have devotion time with the kids every night, but...........it doesn't always happen. We get lost and loose track of time between bath time, brushing teeth, cleaning up the toys, putting away dirty clothes, feeding Jamison, and I'm sure there are a few more factors that lead to this loss of time. Before we know it, it's bedtime. I tell them they have to go to bed, so that I can go to bed, which is very true! Back to the title of this post, we had our devotion time last night, and it was the story of Jesus dying on the cross. Jannah always pays attention, she usually knows the Bible stories we talk about; Jordan on the other hand, only focuses for the first minute, maybe two. While talking about heaven, I noticed that Jordan was locked on. When I finished the story, this is how it went!
Jordan- Am I gonna die?
Daddy- We all die, when we get old.
Jordan- Am I gonna die?
Mamma- We pray you have a long life, and yes, we will all die one day.
Jannah- Will you die first (asking Mama), please don't say yes.
Daddy- We will live for a long, long time. When we die, we will be with Jesus forever in Heaven.
Jordan- Am I gonna die?
My heartstrings begin to unravel; clearly Jordan is concerned about dying. This is difficult to explain to a 3 year old. I want so badly for him to know Jesus as his Saviour, and I know this is the beginning. He is curious, and it's so important for us to help him understand Jesus, and what He did for us, and how He made a way for us to be in Heaven with our Father for eternity. Daddy does a little more explaining, and then Jordan says, "Gampa took me to heaven." So, we had our teachable moment, and then our Jordan enters his world of imagination, which is huge!
I am thankful for the little window of sharing we had with him. We pray for the day that all of our children accept Christ.
