Introducing the NEW Jannah...

My long haired girl is no more; but, it was for a very generous cause!! Jannah heard me talking about Locks for Love a long time ago. She asked about it, and I told her that it was a donation of your hair for wigs to be made for ladies and girls who had lost their hair due to sickness. She let me know immediately that she wanted to do that. She has been asking and wondering when her time would come to have her hair cut. She was very determined; I have been very quiet about it. I didn't want to lead her in one direction or the other. Honestly, I knew it would be hard for me to let go of her long, beautiful, brown hair. It would be hard for her Gamma too. Most of all, I knew it was going to be the hardest for her Daddy; he loves his little girl's long hair. We saw a little girl yesterday at the post office, and she had just had hers cut for the same cause. With that fresh on her mind, Jannah decided that today, November 8th was the day. We've been measuring it, and she's been past the required 8 inches for a while now. It was a matter of time, and I could buy no more. She was persistent that I call or that we go to the salon, today. We shared a Starbucks (she had a hot chocolate), shopped and just talked. She said to me, " the only bad thing is that me and you won't look alike anymore." That brought tears to my eyes. I love that girl. All the while, she was counting down the hours until 5:30, when her hair would be cut. So, the time finally came. She was nervous, but I was even more nervous! I wanted to back out. But, I had to be strong, because I could tell she really wanted to go through with it, even though she was a little hesitant.

My girl was so brave. She was very serious. This was about the time that I was ready to say, "let's go!" Actually, this was when the tears were welling up in my eyes. Thankfully, Jannah couldn't see me. I was on the side of her. She was looking straight ahead, no movement at all!

I was in tears at this point. There was no holding them back. The hair was gone, and my little girl was getting a new look. A kind lady handed me a tissue, and asked if this was her first haircut. I just nodded, I just couldn't speak a word. I really do like her new hairdo. I think it's cute, and it fits her slender face. I can't explain why this was such a big step for me and her. I think maybe it seems like this makes her older. I'm not for sure. Maybe it's just that I totally loved that long hair and the big bows, and the pigtails. All of that aside, Jannah's hair, alone with 5 other hair donations will make a beautiful wig for someone. What an honor for a 5 year old to have.

I just wanted to cry reading this post. We were just talking the other day about how getting Jamison's first hair cut will totally change his look. I can't imagine the shock of such a drastic change for Jannah, especially after watching her hair grow and grow for a few years! She still looks ADORABLE with her hair in the little bob! And you can still do big bows and pig tails with her short hair, too! In a way it will be fun because you'll get to dicover all the 'cute' things you can do with short hair!

Way to go Jannah! You're such a sweet young lady to think of such a generous thing to do for such a worthy cause!

She looks so beautiful, and I know you're proud of her! Mrs. Cho cut both of my girls' hair, and I think she does a better job than anyone in the States. It's a great cut! Jenny Renner

What a beautiful little girl you have! Both inside and out she is just stunning. What a gift to share with some other child who really needs a wig to feel a little bit better about herself. Thank you, Jannah, for such a selfless act! ~Anna Jane

I am so proud of you, Jannah, and Greg! I LOVE her new hair and she's quite the little sweetheart to do such a nice thing for somebody in need! Big bows are adorable in bobs too. Princesses need a new hairdo every once in a while!
